The Green Bean African Coffee Roastery is sourced from the high altitude African coffee plantations where the beans are hand picked to ensure consistent top quality. Africa is the continent where coffee originated e.g. Ethiopian coffee from the Limu region is indigenous and grows in the wild! The coffee is made only from the highest grade Arabica beans and consumed/sold within two weeks of roasting (coffee generally loses about half its taste and aroma two weeks out of the roaster). The coffee is freshly ground and made using the purest filtered water from Casalinga's mineral spring water. It is made by a fully trained barista who is incentivised to maintain the highest and most consistent coffee standards.
Customers may choose from either ground or bean format, in 250g or 1kg pouches, with the roasting date noted on the pack.
Why did you choose this type of business or craft? We wanted to offer clients an honest, high quality, superb tasting product that they wouldn’t find in most run-of-the-mill coffee shops, restaurants or retail outlets; and to cap it all the coffee would be freshly roasted unlike the 3 to 36 month offerings found in shops. Co-founder Iris McCallum introduced the roast-to-order concept based on her family background where her grandparents grew, processed and roasted their own coffee on the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro….
What inspires you to create and develop your product range? The love of coffee; knowing we produce an honest product and being in a position to introduce and inspire others to enjoy our product as much as we do!
